All 'GDBM' utilities return uniform exit codes.  These are summarized in
the table below:

Code                   Meaning
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
0                      Successful termination.
1                      A fatal error occurred.
2                      Program was unable to restore file ownership or
                       mode.
3                      Command line usage error.
